Qualifications

The Evans and Carlotta Dodds Community Service Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students who are working toward a degree in ministry, nursing or social work.

To be eligible for this community service scholarship, students typically need to meet the following qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a related field of study at an accredited college or university.
  • Strong academic performance, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • A written application, including a personal statement as well as letters of recommendation from instructors, mentors or professionals.

Recipients of the community service scholarship will receive financial assistance to cover expenses related to their education. The scholarship includes mentorship opportunities, lunch and learns and access to resources.

Background

This scholarship honors the lives and legacy of Evans and Carlotta Dodds who have been married for over 51 years. The couple has always been committed to serving others.

Reverend Dr. J. Evans Dodds, Sr served for over 50 years as a pastor in numerous churches throughout the Caribbean and the United States. He’s trained youth leaders and local pastors and was active in community service where he worked to help those in need and make a positive impact on their lives. 

Carlotta Dodds was a registered nurse and also dedicated her life to serving and caring for others. She’s well known for her kindness, compassion, and commitment to her family, community and patients.

Evans and Carlotta are proud of their three sons, their sons’ wives and 7 grandchildren. They attribute the family’s success to their faith in God, family values, strong work ethic, communication and love.
